Final Projects and Life Lessons!

So lately I've been realizing how important painting is to me, which sort of scares me. I've also slept only like 2.5 hours in the past 33 hours so many things currently scare me. Besides that, it's sort of overwhelming to admit that you're passionate about something that you don't get much practice in, that you don't feel completely confident in, or that you think everyone else wants to be doing in the future. Being in school is weird because you have access to so many things and you sometimes put too much pressure on 'specialties.' Maybe I'm the only one, but finals have gotten me thinking and I've decided that it's okay to like whatever you like and to knowingly accept that art is sometimes about figuring that out. It's about the journey, not the final product.

Anyways! Lengthy intro but here's a piece for school that got me thinking about what I'm supposed to be. Who knows what that is! But I learned a lot from this piece and though I may not be happy with the conclusion of it, I enjoyed making it.

Thanks for takin' a look :)
Happy Holidays everybody!

Sad Turtle

Here's a recent painting I did for my Drawing for Animators class. Really fun and I learned a lot about landscapes and textures. Hope to finish this someday to a disgusting level of detail but until then, enjoy!

He's from an earlier post when we made characters from abstract silhouettes and doodles.

*values of course not perfect on blogspot, but close enough ;)

Updates! School year! Yahh!

School is awesome, I love everything!

Here's two projects that I've finished up, this first chunk is all from a design lab that explored different methods of creating characters and then we rendered them!

The chosen designs I finished up:

Process work:

Here's the start of my caricature project that we just finished up, I posted this one up on facebook if you're friends with me :) But it was about pushing traits that are most prevalent in people/characters and I had a lot of fun.

(and it gave me a chance to paint my favorite, SeƱor Andy Samberg <3 )

Here's me! (sorta) ((expect a painting of this later))

Process work:

Anywho, I'll post some more things later. I have animation projects and more things coming up. EXPECT A PORTFOLIO SITE SOON!!!1!

Moar Oil Paintin's!

Hey guys!

Here's some more painting studies for my class, they're the easiest to show because I have to do two (roughly) per week. Other updates soon for my Zbrush sculpt(s) and Character stuff!!

My Sargent copy (kinda) on the left 6hrs?, Sargent's Dorothy on the right.
Looks a little rosy from the iPhone pic, and with a limited palette.

Here's another figure painting, with the same palette.
(Titanium White, Cad Yellow Med, Cad Red Med, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue)
5hrs?

Last but not least we did a double study of the same model, high key/low key.
Same palette, a little less than 1.5 hrs for each?
